Lachlan Bailey was called upon to capture the Israeli-American actress, with Centenera herself on styling duties for the shoot. For the official print cover (below), Portman gazes down Bailey’s lens wearing a look from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Spring 2025 Christian Dior collection (as a brand ambassador, obviously). In the process, Nicole Kidman is welcomed back for a ninth time as Vogue Australia cover star – who gets a complete image overhaul. Via the lens of famed photographer Steven Klein and with Centenera reporting for styling duties, the Australian screen icon wears a look from Sabato De Sarno’s debut Gucci collection for Spring 2024 in the intriguing and visually-arresting cover image. A pair of Gentle Monster sunglasses, Cartier jewelry and a black snake complete Nicole’s edgy and dynamic new look.

Ultimately, the end result divided our forums. “Vogue Australia is so cringe,” critiqued GoldenPetals.

“It’s giving me fan made movie poster on Letterboxd,” laughed blueorchid.

“Steven Klein’s esthetic is getting so outdated,” chimed in forum member MDNA.

Yet not everyone was so quick to disapprove. “My immediate instinct was to loathe this entirely but for some bizarre reason – I’m a fan! Magazines in general are so stale nowadays, that something different and something completely unexpected is appreciated. A little V Magazine and unconventional for what I typically like but I am intrigued,” reasoned vogue28.

“It looks cartoon-ish, but you know what, I’m all for it! It’s rare to see bold cover choices on Vogue, let alone with Nicole Kidman on the cover,” stated crmsn.

Kokobombon also liked what they saw too, commenting: “I love it because it’s Nicole and I have a soft spot for whenever she does these type of ‘fun’ covers!”

We take our Lachlan Bailey fix at any given moment, and whether he’s shooting sizzling summer campaigns for H&M or photographing supermodels for the covers of magazines – Bailey’s work is often a sight for sore eyes. Thankfully for us as editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, Christine Centenera favors the Aussie New York-based photographer too, who profiled Florence Pugh for the title just last month. Bailey now fixes his lens upon Emily Ratajkowski, who stars on Australian Vogue‘s December 2023 edition, five years after her last. In the subtle and demure cover image, the American model and actress is dressed by Centenera in a bralette from Hermès, a Bottega Veneta mohair coat and jewelry from Bulgari.

At once, the cover ignited debate amongst members of our forums. “Spectacular!” jal718 heralded.

“I really appreciate Vogue Australia giving Lachlan Bailey the platform he deserves and while I couldn’t care less about Emily, I think this is a nice cover. I love Bailey’s lighting and post production, his images always look beautiful. I’m all here for Vogue Australia giving us a monthly Lachlan Bailey fix!” championed aracic.

Echoing the same sentiments was vogue28: “The more I see this, the more I fall just a little more in love with it. Never been one to dislike Emily Ratajkowski and think Lachlan Bailey has just her justice, just as he does with every other subject he fixes his lens upon. The colors are gorgeous, love all those nude tones and how Centenera’s clothing choices complement Bailey’s lighting wonderfully.”

Not everyone, however, was on the same page. “I like Lachlan Bailey but this is so dreary, and not a good way,” shared forum member SLFC.

“It looks like they were trying to morph her into Penélope Cruz,” mikel pointed out.

These have included everyone from Hailey Bieber to Kylie Minogue and Adut Akech to Margot Robbie. Next up on the Australian fashion bible’s list of cover stars is Florence Pugh, who graces the November 2023 issue via the lens of photographer Lachlan Bailey. Aussie Vogue‘s latest marks the British actress’ third Vogue cover appearance in total (having appeared on American Vogue twice) and is dressed by Centenera for the occasion in a mohair Loewe jacket, a pair of Triangl swim shorts and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

In the eyes of our forum members, one element in particular was somewhat… questionable. “Those [Triangl] grandma pants really make her look short,” critiqued oaklee91.

“The styling is so bad… ouch ouch ouch!” exclaimed an unforgiving 90sFan.

“I hate the styling (especially the color of the shorts and not the shorts per se) but Pugh looks gorgeous,” voiced forum member WAVES.

Not everyone was so completely disheartened with Vogue Australia’s latest. “The first time I like Florence,” confessed caioherrero.

“I thought it was going to be terrible but I actually really like it,” a pleasantly surprised kokobombon admitted.

“It’s the fact we’ve got ourselves another Lachlan Bailey-shot cover of Vogue that’s ultimately sealing the deal for me here. Could take or leave Florence Pugh but I will admit that I’m rather fond of this whole cover/cover shoot. The colors are gorgeous and its so tastefully and effortlessly shot by Bailey,” wrote vogue28.

Photographed on location within the lush grounds of the Flamingo Estate in Los Angeles, Australia’s biggest musical exports (whose latest album Tension continues to skyrocket) is captured by Alique, with Centenera herself reporting for styling duties and selecting a dress from Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2024 collection for Kylie to flaunt in the cover shot.

Vogue Australia’s latest was immediately well received amongst members of our forums. “Kylie delivers as always. Madam Padam is a better print model than most current top models nowadays,” raved Wintergreen.
“I love the relaxed summery vibe,” kokobombon admired.
Vogue28 was also very much a fan, adding: “So great to see Kylie Minogue on the cover of Vogue Australia (as always), and it’s an added bonus that Alique and Christine Centenera have managed to do Kylie the justice she deserves. She looks absolutely fantastic, love what she’s wearing, the whole concept of the shoot and the beauty styling. A resounding 10/10 from me!”
Not everyone, however, was in agreement. “Should’ve been on the beach, or somewhere on location in Australia,” jeremydante complained.
“It’s a very dull boring cover. They could have done something much better with her, and the pose doesn’t help. NEXT!” Bertrando3 disapproved.

It has been four years since Victoria Beckham ventured into the world of beauty, and introduced us to Victoria Beckham Beauty, an extension of her hugely successful eponymous womenswear fashion label which the Brit style icon founded back in 2008. Fast forward to 2023 and just before the unveiling of the brand’s Spring 2024 showcase during PFW, Victoria has launched her first set of fragrances. Inspired by memories traveling the world with husband David Beckham, the three eau de perfumes named Portofino ‘97, San Ysidro Drive and Suite 302. The trio of scents were developed by perfumer Jérôme Epinettecome, come housed in glamorous sleek bottles and retail for $200 each.

In the three accompanying edgy, dynamic and glamorous campaign images for each of the three unique scents, Victoria reunites with renowned photographer Steven Klein, while also commissioning stylist Christine Centenera to help embody the mood of the unisex fragrances.

Members of our forums, however, were having a serious case of déjà vu. “Can’t believe this brand spent money and hired a whole ‘creative’ team to come up with the same packaging as Tom Ford’s perfumes,” voiced Ihhbl.
“The images are Klein on autopilot, well made and all but nothing to write home about. The packaging couldn’t look more Tom Ford,” echoed avonlea002.
“It’s giving fake Tom Ford vibes, even if it’s extremely overpriced for a celebrity range,” perhydrol chimed in.
DK92 wasn’t buying it either, exclaiming: “This reeks of DESPERATION!”
“I’m also getting ALL the Tom Ford vibes from this (even down to the font and design of the bottle itself) but I’m not complaining. Yes, every single element is a blatant and a rather shameful emulation of Tom Ford but it’s all so perfectly executed by Steven Klein and team that I do not entirely hate the end result. I’m genuinely sat here feeling conflicted,” shared vogue28.

WAVES is also not jumping for joy: “She must sell really well in Australia. I feel like she’s been on the cover too many times. What is she promoting?”

Edwina McCann clearly loves promoting homegrown talent. Vogue Australia just celebrated Australian fashion with indigenous cover stars. Now Baz Luhrmann serves as guest editor. Naturally, the Aussie filmmaker selected Austin Butler along with Olivia DeJonge as June 2022 cover stars. Makes sense since they’re appearing in the director’s Elvis biopic. Shot by Lachlan Bailey with styling from Christine Centenera, the stars pose together for the newsstand cover (below) with Austin wearing Louis Vuitton and Olivia sporting Miu Miu. Each also lands a solo digital cover (after the jump).

Nevertheless, our forums are divided over the outcome. “What the actual f*ck?” asked an especially dismayed avonlea002.

“Such a mess,” declared an obviously disappointed JoCaderone.

“This is the worst thing I’ve seen this year,” proclaimed an absolutely horrified caioherrero.

“This actually made me laugh out loud,” blueorchid chimed in.

Although not everyone feels the same way. “He is playing Elvis after all so I don’t mind that they continued that theme for the cover. Las Vegas is well known for over-the-top tacky glamour. I just wish the photograph was brighter and warmer to match the other elements,” wrote GivenchyHomme.

“The Lachlan Bailey portrait is actually quite lovely, love the lighting. Even the extra tacky art direction makes sense considering it’s Elvis-themed. It doesn’t seem pretentious or serious, it’s camp and it’s fearless and I guess I respect that,” defended a definitely impressed aracic.

“To be completely honest, I’m quite fond of the cover and I’m able to appreciate how celebratory the art direction is while paying homage to the upcoming Elvis biopic!” added vogue28.
