That’s a wrap on the Fall 2025 season of New York Fashion Week. Running from February 6 until February 11, the schedule put out by the Council of Fashion Designers of America proved to be a far more streamlined affair in comparison to seasons past.

At the start of the 6-day event, it was Brandon Maxwell who kick-started this season into high gear (and high style). To commemorate a whole decade in the business, Maxwell dressed his army of models in everyday staples from silk slips and shirting to leather sheaths and plaid skirts. To close out NYFW, Thom Browne dialed up the drama (and then some), with model Alek Wek closing out Browne’s spectacular showcase in a voluminous plaid ball gown.

From the debut collection of Veronica Leoni as Calvin Klein creative director to Wes Gordon proving himself (once again) as the creative force behind Carolina Herrera (and everything else in between) – scroll further for theFashionSpot’s highlights of New York Fashion Week Fall 2025:

New York remains a hub of activity, with the Fall 2025 season of New York Fashion Week now in full swing. Yesterday (day three of the six-day fashion extravaganza) served up the Fall 2025 Khaite collection from Catherine Holstein. Now considered one of New York’s hottest labels, Holstein founded Khaite in 2016. The designer took over the city’s Park Avenue Armory this season. To the soundtrack of The Smashing Pumpkins, models (including Abbey Lee Kershaw and Lulu Tenney) strode a circular catwalk, taking to the runway in Holstein’s lineup of leather bomber jackets, sweeping coats, chunky knits, deconstructed corsets, pops of leopard print, and newsboy caps.

Khaite Fall 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I loved it, really. It always stands out from the simple quiet luxury brands.” [fashionlov]

“The music, the set, the casting: flawless. The clothes: too cool for school. Much smarter than Phoebe Philo at the moment. Loved the dress on Mona the most.” [FashionFanatico]

“I’m loving the set. The circle runway always remind me of Versace shows.” [TaylorBinque]

“I liked this quite a bit. New York Fashion Week is getting its mojo back!” [disco54]

“The eclipse runway got me! Great show! One of the best from NYC as usual!” [Simera]

“Loved this, so much leather. I am very sensitive to music and the Lost Highway part was so wild. The best thing about this is that you could totally see it in the street. And be wowed.” [Monsieur Cristobal]

“I am quite surprised at how lovely it all is! It also feels all cohesive and doesn’t fall into the modern trap of a collection looking like a disjointed story, there’s repetition of silhouettes and fabrics and the fabrics are all so sumptuous and delicious looking.” [IsabelMarantBoy]

On December 16, Rihanna made a fashion statement in an all-black look while attending a party with A$AP Rocky. One can never go wrong with a black fit, and the singer proved the same in a simple ruched dress with faux fur detailing. The Fenty Beauty founder made date night all the more fashionable with a leather coat and handbag in a matching shade, further elevating the party night look.

Rihanna is well-known for her impeccable fashion sense, and she recently made an all-black look work while attending a holiday party in West Hollywood with A$AP Rocky. The look was simple yet chic, with the faux fur detailing making it all the more appropriate for the festive season.

According to Marie Claire, her ruched dress was a part of Magda Butrym’s collection. It featured long see-through sleeves, with faux fur decorating the cuffs. She also added a faux fur element to her neckline, which seemed detachable as she didn’t wear it when she had her coat on.

The singer accessorized the black dress with a matching leather coat from Khaite, which added an edgy touch to the otherwise elegant fit. She paired the attire with a leather shoulder bag from Alaïa and strappy heels from Tom Ford. Both the handbag and the heels are a staple in Rihanna’s closet, and the businesswoman has previously sported different renditions of the accessories.

For her beauty choices, she kept it festive with a bright red lip shade. The singer let her hair loose to match the elegance of her dress, with her dark hair perfectly complementing her all-black look. However, she kept her base makeup minimalistic to let her natural skin shine through, simply accentuating her eyes with some mascara and eyeliner.

A$AP Rocky matched Rihanna’s energy by pairing a dapper button-down shirt with jeans. He layered a puffer vest on top to combat the cold, adding a fun tie to the mix to create a pattern-clashing moment. The rapper completed the look with a large baby blue handbag that matched his jeans.

On December 11, Ariana Grande stunned in a flowy all-white dress, ditching her go-to method dressing for a private screening of “Wicked.” However, she continued radiating Glinda the Good Witch’s energy, as she looked heavenly in the white sheer gown. Cynthia Erivo was also present at the event, contrasting Grande’s all-white fit with a black-and-green look.

Ariana Grande drops Glinda pink for an all-white outfit for ‘Wicked’ private screening

Ariana Grande looked ethereal in a white sheer gown at a private screening of “Wicked” on Wednesday. The dress was different from her streak of pink to represent Glinda the Good Witch, her character in the musical fantasy film. However, it was no less dreamy as she looked angel-like in the minimalistic sheer gown.

The all-white dress is a part of Khaite’s collection, incorporating sheer elements around Ariana Grande’s décolletage. The sheer section met the solid fabric to create a strapless sweetheart neckline that beautifully hugged the singer’s curves. Moreover, the asymmetrical hemline added intrigue to the otherwise plain look.

Ariana Grande paired her white sheer gown with square-toe flats, keeping her jewelry to a minimum. She accessorized with a pair of tiny hoops that added some bling to the look without stealing the attention away from the dreamy fit.

MUA Michael Anthony worked on her makeup, continuing Ariana Grande’s method dressing streak with a minimalistic look. They went with false lashes to give the singer a doe-like look and further accentuated the same with the help of some eyeliner. For lips, they opted for a pink glossy shade that added some color to her lips without looking too bold.

The overall look was styled by Mimi Cuttrell, who has worked with Grande for a long time. Cuttrell was the mastermind behind the artist’s Chanel fit for the Academy Women’s Luncheon and the iridescent gown that made headlines during her “Wicked” promo tour.

Thanks to the fashion frenzy that is New York Fashion Week, America’s most populous city has been an absolute hub of activity over recent days (perhaps more so than ever before). Getting the New York Fashion Week Spring 2025 season off to an almighty start was design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, with the design duo opting to show off schedule. The following day, the titan of American fashion that is Ralph Lauren also opted to forgo the CFDA’s New York Fashion Week schedule, welcoming guests onto a 19-acre equestrian estate in Bridgehampton for a collection celebrating all-things Americana.

Report: New York Fashion Week Spring 2025

As part of the CFDA’s official New York Fashion Week calendar, Piotrek Panszczyk of the buzzy brand Area kick-started day one, and dug into the archives to celebrate a decade in the business. Brandon Maxwell’s showcase exuded easy elegance. Hilary Taymour at Collina Strada chose to host this season’s show at golden hour within a small private park in Manhattan, sending the lightest of dresses and a bevy of ruffles down a grass runway.

Prabal Gurung staged his spring show under the archway on Centre St in downtown Manhattan, with a fleet of models taking to the cobbles as flowy, fringey, and form-fitting gowns blew in the wind. To a soundtrack of Guns N’ Roses and Wilco, designer Catherine Holstein of Khaite unveiled a collection in a palette of black, white, red, and pale pink. To round out a spectacular Saturday, Alaïa‘s Pieter Mulier invited guests inside the Guggenheim Museum, having ditched Paris for New York this season. Come Sunday, Ulla Johnson woke up the fashion pack with a collection of vivid pattern and bold color. Ib Kamara brought his latest Off-White offering to New York, for a blowout show under the Brooklyn Bridge to display his elevated interpretation of athletic wear.

Monday was kick-started by Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera, who found inspiration in the Herrera fragrance packing from the 1980s. Gordon unveiled an elegant collection characterized by bold polka-dot prints, bright tones, and floral motifs. Make no mistake Coach’s Stuart Vevers hearts New York. The British designer’s cast of models took to The High Line overlooking the Hudson River, sporting playful oversized clutches, leather blazers, and easy-breezy boxers shorts. Tory Burch served up plenty of nostalgia: as the designer revived her famous Reva ballet flats, the shoe that shot her brand to fame in the mid-2000s. Michael Kors hosted his spring show at The Shed in Hudson Yards, for collection tailor-made for both the boardroom and the beach – from pleated midi skirts and oversized suit jackets, to bandeau tops and fringed leather bags.

Here’s the Hits & Misses of New York Fashion Week Spring 2025:

MISS | Coach

“I don’t know why Stuart Vevers was running and smiling. This collection was a national embarrassment.” [disco54]

“Not sure why they needed these clothes. Maybe Coach wanted to show their Gen Z clients how Coach bags look with their everyday clothes, that they wear to Walmart and to campus lectures.” [Urban Stylin]

“Absolutely hideous collection, with not one single redeeming quality. A visual eyesore, and every garment looks… thrifted (in the worst way possible). The inclusion is Ella Emhoff just adds insult to injury…” [vogue28]

HIT | Ralph Lauren

“RL is one of the last living icons of the industry and it’s a privilege to watch him produce runway collections at this point in his career. He has built an empire that practically invented the American aspirational dress code. One day Americans will eulogize him the way that the French do Yves and Christian Dior. The collection was wonderful in the context of what RL is. I love it.” [Deleted Member 164032]

“This kind of collection makes me happy – effortless and unapologetic glamour.” [thiago]

“Perfection, absolutely perfection, and I’m doubtful anything will come remotely close as we head into the official NYFW calendar. A standing ovation for Ralph, from me!” [vogue28]

HIT | Ulla Johnson

“Always enjoy Ulla Johnson’s collections during NYFW, and this is no exception. Johnson’s use of print is always enjoyable, and that pink and green print is divine. Those colors!” [vogue28]

“Always enjoy Johnson’s collections and this is no exception. I like the pop of color prints, reminds me of NY graffiti back in the day. I also like the safari-esque pieces and the dresses with the metallic-like embroidery.” [Urban Stylin]

MISS | Michael Kors Collection

“You know fashion is f*cked when designers are pulling inspiration from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior.” [LadyJunon]

“This has the excitement and character of a toilet flush. It looks so cheaply made. This CANNOT possibly that much better than Zara.” [GoldenPetals]

“That’s what you get when you mix the worst of Maria Grazia with the worst of Prada and sprinkle it with some Matthieu Blazy leather experimentation, to pretend you know what you are doing. Michael Kors clearly does NOT. The worst crime is the abysmal tailoring.” [yslforever]

HIT | Sergio Hudson

“For the first time ever Sergio Hudson has managed to make a modern-looking collection.” [Lola701]

“I always enjoy his shows. Beautiful clothes that are made for a woman that wants to look good, without any tricks or theatrics. You can tell that Hudson grew up around women that dressed well.” [Urban Stylin]

“Always enjoyed Sergio Hudson and this collection is no exception. Massively here for how cohesive and streamlined the show as a whole is, lovely color palette and silhouettes. Every garment looks wearable for his client. Seeing absolutely nothing offensive. A thumbs up from me!” [vogue28]

“Just why? What’s the point of this? It doesn’t make you angry, interested or disgusted. It’s not even funny. You look at this, feel nothing and forget after few seconds. Waste of money and time.” [avonlea002]

“I like it! Fun proportions, pretty textures, some classic looks, good bags.” [Not Plain Jane]

MISS | Off-White

“Ib Kamara is way too influenced by his work with Riccardo Tisci in a very dated way. It’s missing personality.” [reese06]

“I laughed all through this. If you are just going to replicate another brand/designer then at least do it well. Even when Riccardo’s shtick got tired it didn’t look cheap.” [VogueDisciple93]

“Jacquemus? Loewe? A mix of everything? Somehow, I would have never expected someone a little bit more seasoned try to replicate the hazardous cuts and details of Jacquemus. somehow, it looks worse and even more hazardous.” [Lola701]

“A parade of unspeakable horrors (polka-dot/prints/volumes/ornaments) killed the whole collection.” [jeanclaude]

“Full of bad fabrics and weird silhouettes.” [Nimsay]

“Burn it with the eternal fires of hell. This is an abomination.” [Norden]

“Yuck. Decades later and they still want us to believe that this can pass as ‘luxury’ fashion. The ideas are tired and the production is H&M levels of cheap. I don’t care how many TV contests Siriano wins. He is not talented.” [GoldenPetals]

HIT | Brandon Maxwell

“I actually like it. No fuss ready-to-wear, no gimmicks or dramatic stuff. Reminds me of Michael Kors from the 2010s.” [Urban Stylin]

“This is not a bad collection at all. In fact, it’s solid in spite of not being spectacular. I’m really loving some of the silhouettes here, particularly the layering styling tricks that I am surely planning to copy very soon. Very pleasant to look at, overall.” [philophile]

“It’s done well – or at least better than most of what we’ve seen so far – so I can’t really fault it.” [Cocteau Stone]

“Shows like this is EXACTLY why I cannot take NYFW seriously.” [Salvatore]

“Collina Strada makes a mockery of it all. She thinks she is some kind of counter-culture contrarian when it’s just hopelessly contrived and ugly. The over representation is also a total bore.” [Deleted Member 164032]

HIT | Tory Burch

“A lot of strong looks/pieces and extremely cohesive too. Well done!” [WAVES]

MISS | Jason Wu Collection

“Jason Wu keeps jumping from one aesthetic to another. There is no longer any consistency in his work.” [GivenchyHomme]

“More often than not, I enjoy Jason Wu’s presence during New York Fashion Week but I’m left majorly underwhelmed this season. Everything just looks so ill-fitting and a mass of fabrics. What an absolute eyesore.” [vogue28]

HIT | Monse

“Some really great stuff here. The two maxi dresses and the sequin polo w/ sequin skirt seem like must-haves. Many other nice separates like that navy suit – beautifully cut pants with a nicely shaped jacket.” [Nimsay]

MISS | LaQuan Smith

Right now, we remain in the midst of New York Fashion Week and this Spring 2025 season is shaping up to be a one for the books. One might argue the fashion festivities got off to a fine start on Wednesday September 4, when Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler showed off schedule and focused heavily on craft, color and print. The following day, the icon of American fashion that is Ralph Lauren also opted to forgo the CFDA’s schedule and welcomed guests to a 19-acre equestrian estate in Bridgehampton for a collection celebrating all-things Americana. Alaïa joined the NYFW schedule this season, with creative director Pieter Mulier showcasing his latest at the Guggenheim Museum.

That’s a wrap on New York Fashion Week’s Fall 2024 season, with the 6-day event coming to an almighty close with Thom Browne’s return to the schedule following a brief hiatus.

Subsequent to the surprise doll-inspired showcase from Marc Jacobs prior to NYFW officially kicking off, the fashion pack looked toward Christian Siriano to kick-start the festivities. Held at the iconic Plaza hotel, Siriano welcomed us into his fantasy world and dialed up the glamour with a collection inspired by sci-fi movies. Peter Do was soon serving his sophomore Helmut Lang collection, unearthing and reimagining Lang’s Spring 2003 collection. Tommy Hilfiger is back – and wants us to dress to impress. The American designer’s first show in two years took place in the Grand Central Oyster Bar, located beneath the iconic New York train station. Models roamed the restaurant sporting Hilfiger’s tried and true classics, to a live performance from Jon Batiste.

Prabal Gurung created a sense of comfort through draped silhouettes and cozy fabrics while creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented a collection for real-life women, with an array of pieces which transcend traditional season dressing – a minimalist dream of statement outwear. Catherine Holstein looked to craft a new wardrobe for the ultimate New York woman and elevated the viral mob wife trend to the max. The no-pants trend reigned supreme at Joseph Altuzarra’s 15th anniversary showcase celebration. Anna Sui looked to Agatha Christie for inspo this season, fittingly presented at The Strand bookshop. For his first collection stateside, Ludovic de Saint Sernin collaborated with The Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation and paid homage to the late photographer’s chronicles of the 1970s BDSM scene.

Wes Gordon’s latest Carolina Herrera unveiling was inspired by the designer herself, resulting in monochromatic looks, glamorous gowns and floral motifs scattered throughout. There was no better way for Tory Burch to mark the 20th anniversary of her eponymous label, other than tinsel evening gowns, sheer ruffles and bursts of color. Michael Kors, for Fall 2024, juxtaposed the languid lingerie dressing of the 30s with the streamlined luxury of the 90s. In true Thom Browne fashion, the designer closed NYFW with a theatrical show, with models embodying different characters as if fallen from a storybook.

Needless to say, New York Fashion Week has been one for the books. Scroll further for the hits and misses of the season, according to theFashionSpot’s unfiltered forum members:

HIT | Michael Kors Collection

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I love the intimacy in showing in that space and I loved the bags!” [Lola701]

“MK really understands his customer. All of these pieces perfectly edited and constructed.” [Nimsay]

“Always get this instant sense of pure satisfaction whenever I witness a watch a Michael Kors show during NYFW. There’s always something so reassuring about his strong sense of self, this customer, his designs and there is always a very strong sense of wearabilty. This, for me, was a truly immaculate and streamlined collection.” [vogue28]

MISS | LaQuan Smith

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Dated and amateurish.” [GoldenPetals]

“It’s like a street hooker trying to be classy…” [jeanclaude]

“I saw some promise at the start but unfortunately the mixed bag of some good pieces with some horrible ones threw off the whole thing, He needs to get a quality control team as well as someone to help source fabrics.” [Urban Stylin]

HIT | Carolina Herrera

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“There’s ALWAYS time for the classics. This is so beautifully made. I love how AMERICAN it is.” [GoldenPetals]

“Very classic and to the point, perfectly made too.” [Cocteau Stone]

“Delightful, a total breath of fresh air from everything else we’re currently seeing during New York Fashion Week. This collection was just flawless from start to finish. There’s flow, there’s coherence, there’s elegance and refinement… the list goes on!” [vogue28]

MISS | Tory Burch

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Those white tights…” [jeanclaude]

“At least it was a short presentation. These clothes are awful. That gulf blue leather skirt is criminal. That white clover print dress that changes to polka dot along with that white fringe coat is also criminal.” [Nimsay]

“I’m really confused by this direction for Tory Burch and the Burch woman. There are some decent jackets and coats in here, and some interesting co-or sets but I still don’t get ‘Tory Burch’ from this.” [Cocteau Stone]

See all the looks from the Tory Burch Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Ludovic de Saint Sernin

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“It’s all just so… obvious. Nothing seductive about it honestly.” [TianCouture]

“Ludovic de Saint Sernin is so surface level and conceited it’s almost too funny. He needs to up the ante when it comes to their pattern cutting and designs. It’s been the exact same for a long time now. The same thing rehashed over and over again, and has gotten worse and more simplified over the years too.” [Cocteau Stone]

“Ludovic De Ain’t Serving.” [chinsumo]

See all the looks from the Ludovic de Saint Sernin Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Altuzarra

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“A very cohesive, modern and elegant collection. His inspiration from the Harlequin world is very subtle but also interesting to recognize and somewhat fun.” [WAVES]

“When he’s good, he’s GOOD. There’s something quintessentially New York about this. It reminds me of 80s/early 90s Clavin Klein.” [GoldenPetals]

“I thought I was watching The Row for a minute. Lovely, gentle show. I can see a lot of Perry Ellis in there. Also Alaïa’s Spring 2024 show casts a long shadow, especially in the extravagant use of buttons and pillbox hats but I rather enjoyed this.” [Dellone]

See all the looks from the Altuzarra Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Coach

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“What a wasted opportunity, the toilet paper skirts are godawful. [disco54]

“Horrendous.” [Alejandra Isami]

“Stuart Vevers is just lazy now! Maybe he wanted the GAP job? It’s quite a mess.” [Lola701]

See all the looks from the Coach Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Jason Wu Collection

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“It’s a superb collection, especially when compared to the rest of NYFW so far. Jason has set himself apart by continuing to focus on fabric development and the construction of the actual garments, instead of chasing after what’s considered cool. [THD96]

“The white dress on Vivienne Rohner is definitely the highlight of the week!” [helmutnotdead]

“It’s very beautiful, very well made, exquisite cut.” [Lola701]

See all the looks from the Jason Wu Collection Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Khaite

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Khaite is always a NYFW favorite for me, Cate Holstein never disappoints. The strong sleeved cropped leather jacket in the first look is a dream, I want it so badly. Actually all the jackets were exquisite. It’s always such a joy to see these collections for someone with a minimalist heart.” [philophile]

“It’s minimalism, but it’s very moody, dramatic and romantic. It’s rare to find that in minimalism in today’s fashion landscape.” [LadyJunon]

“There’s a clear inspiration from Cristóbal Balenciaga but it’s a beautiful, modern and almost subversive homage. The set and mood was perfect.” [WAVES]

See all the looks from the Khaite Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Ulla Johnson

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Shes probably the best at NYFW. these clothes are unmistakably Ulla.” [Nimsay]

“Some lovely dresses and prints; a lot of this feels so elegant and wearable.” [Not Plain Jane]

“I always look forward to her collections, very effortless and unpretentious.” [Urban Stylin]

See all the looks from the Ulla Johnson Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Anna Sui

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Not even fashion. A collection of random clothes.” [Nimsay]

“I always see the odd few pieces and looks I like in Anna Sui collections, but never do I think I want or like it all. The styling is always too busy.” [Not Plain Jane]

“I think that customer base is ageing, and hence her business has somewhat faltered in recent years.” [Kennnnn]

See all the looks from the Anna Sui Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Proenza Schouler

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“They’ve moved onto copying Yohji Yamamoto to Helmut Lang now.” [LadyJunon]

“The bleakness of ripping off someone… be it Phoebe Philo or be it Helmut Lang now. Tragic.” [90sFan]

“This collection is pure nonsense. Their lack of identity is criminal.” [Nimsay]

See all the looks from the Proenza Schouler Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Eckhaus Latta

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Some of that, no wait, all of that knitwear is so ugly.” [youthinasia]

“Not very strong, but it’s fine although didn’t require a runway presentation. A lookbook would have been fine enough. Really bland colors and the cuts are pretty mundane.” [Cocteau Stone]

“I remember Eckhaus Latta were all the rage about 6 years ago, inside the more ‘less mainstream’ and more hypebeast-y crowd. No idea who is this brand for these days.” [dontbeadrag]

See all the looks from the Eckhaus Latta Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Tommy Hilfiger

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I like this, very private American university chic.” [disco54]

“It’s wearable… with a lot of preppy campus classics.” [Not Plain Jane]

“It’s a good collection! Stylish, fresh, wearable and timeless. Maybe it’s time for Americans to have actually more respect for Tommy Hilfiger, who can design a coat with a shape, a decent shoulder, pants that falls perfectly and flatter the body…” [Lola701]

See all the looks from the Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Prabal Gurung

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“He does not understand volumes. It feels like someone with very bad voice trying to sing opera…” [jeanclaude]

“Why does nothing fit properly? Whose body are these clothes flattering? Are the last dresses poor versions of Olivier Theyskens?” [tourbillions]

“Prabal Gurung wouldn’t know good taste even if it smacked him across the head.” [lookatme]

See all the looks from the Prabal Gurung Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Christian Siriano

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“New York fashion week does NOT need this person.” [GoldenPetals]

“His pattern making always confuses me. I understand that certain designs and shapes need a waste seam. That’s a no-brainer, but the way he goes about it just always pisses me off. So visually obtrusive.” [Cocteau Stone]

“He has been in the business for so long, but the cut and construction of his clothes is still very poor. He should have bought the archive from Zac Posen and copied the patterns.” [JohannesL]

See all the looks from the Christian Siriano Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Helmut Lang

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“This didn’t need a show.” [tourbillions]

“The essence of Helmut Lang : BEING EFFORTLESS. The essence of Peter Do : TRYING HARD. It ain’t a match darling. Divorce will happen soon.” [IloveDiorHomme]

“I just hope the real Helmut Lang never sees any of this, what an insult to his work.” [liberty33r1b]

See all the looks from the Helmut Lang Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Luar

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“What an odd collection. This stuff is really well made but is absolutely dreadful. Those exploded coogie sweaters with a watch necklace is so 2008. The embossed ostrich skirt is interesting but shouldve been done in a wool. More dated looks; showing the thighs. Lots of pleather looking material. Overall its not great.” [Nimsay]

It’s awkward. and out of touch. the bad proportions and the fluffy boots mixed with the lace throws the whole thing off.” [TerraVera]

“Absolutely not. I don’t care how well-constructed this is, it’s contrived. The silhouettes and volumes are DERANGED.” [GoldenPetals]

See all the looks from the Luar Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Gabriela Hearst

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Ugly shapes and cheap looking fabric. It’s easy as hell to be a fashion designer nowadays!” [Alquimista]

“This collection lacks substance, even for Gabriela’s standards. The last two looks are completely out of place.” [perhydrol]

“A lot of very out-of-date ideas here. That knit dress with the holes is giving Amazon.” [Nimsay]

See all the looks from the Gabriela Hearst Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Thom Browne

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I love all the hidden animal prints and ‘juvenile’ prints behind his super seriously styled looks.” [tourbillions]

“He can be so heavily referential and still so unique and fantastic! I absolutely love this side of fashion and I appreciate him so much for this! Everything is perfectly constructed, cut, layered – so good. I’ll say it again: this is the man who should be Chanel’s creative designer.” [WAVES]

“I always enjoy Thom Browne collections and this is no exception. It all feels cluttered and avant garde but when you look carefully you see a story.” [Urban Stylin]

Here at theFashionSpot, we have been living for the resurgence of Linda Evangelista. Subsequent to a surprise Fendi advertising campaign back in 2022, we’ve enjoyed the super of all supermodels making appearances on British Vogue (and then alongside her supermodel peers twelve months later for 2023), WSJ. Magazine and D la Repubblica. Not to mention a must-have book in collaboration with Steven Meisel, an appearance at Vogue World: London and the highly-anticipated release of The Super Models docuseries on AppleTV+.

The 58-year-old Canadian beauty’s latest addition to her remarkable modeling portfolio is the cover of The Sunday Times Style, as the makes a much-welcomed appearance on the magazine’s latest dated November 26, 2023. In the crisp, sleek and minimal cover image lensed by Chris Colls, the undisputed icon of fashion wears an all-black ensemble of Khaite and The Row, selected for the occasion by seasoned stylist Sarajane Hoare.

As expected, the cover immediately caught the attention of theFashionSpot’s forum members. “Oh this is FAB,” raved fenty the second the cover came to light.

“La Linda looks stunning,” heralded versustito.

“YESSSSSS! I’m living for these covers with REAL REAL REAL BONAFIDE SUPERMODELS! exclaimed an elated Bertrando3.

Caioherrero simply used the word “beautiful” to describe the cover.

Everyone else, however, wasn’t so smitten. “The extensive retouching around her jawline and neck is so jarring and amateur-looking. I don’t blame Linda, who is looking fabulous recently, I blame a mediocre photographer like Colls,” voiced an unimpressed WinstonH20.

“I’m not trying to pick on Linda, but come on, standards. She is a titan of modeling, which makes it all the worse when I see trash photos like this one. Genuinely she would look better and have so much more presence without the insane retouching. I mean good lord. Lifeless,” KoV chimed in.

“Photoshop aside, it’s Linda Evangelista, it’s Chris Colls, it’s a flawless cover image and it’s a complete surprise. This appeals to me far more than any of the six covers British Vogue has on offer for us this month,” reasoned vogue28.

Await more from Linda Evangelista via the lens of Chris Colls and join the conversation, here.

One fashion capital down. Three to go. That’s a wrap on New York Fashion Week, and we’re only just coming up for air after digesting what the designers who show their wares within The Big Apple have delivered us for the Spring 2024 season.
It was Stuart Vevers who kick-started the festivities, commemorating his first decade as Coach creative director and reflected back on his early days in New York for inspiration for his collection. Peter Do was soon making his highly-anticipated debut as creative director of Helmut Lang, followed by Ralph Lauren’s grand return to the NYFW schedule which had us stepping into a world of romance and artistry and full of signature Ralph Lauren aesthetics – from wild western Americana to dazzling evening wear. At Proenza Schouler, a new monogram was introduced ever-so-subtly on embossed belt bags and sweaters during a show which oozed minimalism. Catherine Holstein created a collection that was sharp and ferocious at Khaite, with oversized blazers, cinched-waist dressed and color-block accessories. Dion Lee took us to work (on a construction site) for his Spring 2024 collection, with garments sporting utility details, tool-belt pockets and heavy-duty boots. Ulla Johnson presented a vibrant collection featuring painterly printed by artist Shara Hughes while apocalyptic chic was on the agenda at Jason Wu. We got florals galore at Michael Kors, set against the picturesque backdrop of NYC’s East River as models like Vittoria Ceretti and Natasha Poly helped showcase Kors’ 60s-inspired collection grounded in white and tan with gold and blush accents. Form-fitting fabrics, naked dresses and high-shine ruled the LaQuan Smith runway while Tory Burch took us to infinity and beyond, with shimmering metallics and space-age silhouettes.
Need we go on?
Therefore, without further adieu, here are theFashionSpot’s hits and misses of New York Fashion Week Spring 2024, all in accordance with our unfiltered forum members.

HIT | Ralph Lauren

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“A very confident and current show from Mr. Lauren. I am here for this!” [reese06]
“Great collection indeed. He is a league of his own. I love the denim work. This seems to be more fashion, edgy than usual which is always a welcome.” [TaylorBinque]
“My highlight of NYFW, without a shadow of a doubt. I was beyond excited for Ralph Lauren to return to the schedule, and Lord knows the calendar needs him. What a truly gorgeous collection, the most perfect blend of signature RL signatures but with an updated touch. I’m in awe… loved it!” [vogue28]

MISS | Altuzarra

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Prada/MiuMiu and Simone Rocha had a child…” [Lola701]
“When he used to copy Tom Ford I had high hopes that he would develop a signature along that aesthetic. But all he ended up developing were his copying skills. Yikes. This is so derivative.” [GoldenPetals]
“I guess Raf Simons’ take on Prada is inspiring the kids!” [fenty]

HIT | Prabal Gurung

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Pretty damn good. Fine dressmaking elevates even the most challenging looks. That gold plissé one-shoulder number with the coffee crystalline skirt is a vision.” [Nimsay]
“Love a lot the fabric choices in all of this. They’re rich, textural, play with taste in an interesting way and still look luxe.” [Cocteau Stone]
“I absolutely love the textural diversity here and his SA roots are clearly being celebrated.” [LANZO_358]

MISS | Collina Strada

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Available soon in the dumpsters near you.” [avonlea002]
“I feel like this brand is here to troll the industry.” [Urban Stylin]
“Barely stitched together nothing clothes. Ghastly silhouettes.” [Nimsay]

HIT | Jason Wu Collection

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Look 9 is begging me to be part of my wardrobe! So chic! This is so far the best collection of NYFW. It’s very easy to wear while having the right touch of risks that his client would want.” [Lola701]
“Actually a very precise, great collection from him. I think at the beginning he grew too fast. Seems like stepping back has done good to him creatively. I like the styling as well, which really elevate the clothes.” [TaylorBinque]
“One of the best collections to come from NYFW, without a shadow of a doubt. Always been a fan of Jason Wu in all honesty, and think this collection is rather beautiful from start to finish. I just love love LOVE the flow and cohesion of the collection. Very much a fan of this!” [vogue28]
See all the looks from the Jason Wu Collection Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | LaQuan Smith

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Such a waste of leather. Nothing really fits right, even if he is going for the p*rno-chic kind of look.” [Cocteau Stone]
“Had the fit and construction been on point, this collection would’ve been an actual genuine slay. *gag*” [Lady Junon]
“Listen, nobody loves a flash and gloss more than me, but if you’re gonna go for the Versace crown you better bring some damn good ideas or you’re gonna be TOO all-style-no-substance.” [GoldenPetals]
See all the looks from the LaQuan Smith Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Tory Burch

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“This is surprisingly good. Doesn’t feel like Tory, which is what’s confusing about it, even though it feels a little derivative. But still, actually some pieces I’d covet.” [Joromana]
“Love it, I can see myself wearing a lot from this.” [liberty33r1b]
“I do love that semi-sheer black coat with a flower pattern on it, the construction of the collar is a neat touch.” [YohjiAddict]
See all the looks from the Tory Burch Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Dion Lee

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“There was no need for an Alexander Wang 2.0.” [yslforever]
“His mind is totally in the gym. The more buffed he is, the more uninteresting his collections are.” [jeanclaude]
“Dion Lee thinks he ate. This 2017 Mugler/Balmain stuff is really tired and dated. A touch of Versace too.” [Nimsay]
See all the looks from the Dion Lee Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | 3.1 Phillip Lim

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“It’s very New York. Practical and pleasant.” [GoldenPetals]
“Such a fabulous show. Color, movement, texture. A little something for everyone but not so much so it feels unfocused. The Lim-isms with his use of military/parka cottons, I love it!” [TianCouture]
“I quite enjoy this. Love the last few looks. He always make khaki work.” [TaylorBinque]
See all the looks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Proenza Schouler

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“It’s a snoozefest. There is nothing special about this.” [Bugsy]
“This is pure nonsense. This brand is pure nonsense. No identity at all. Anonymous clothes nobody remembers that could have been designed by anybody. 20 years of blending in the background of fashion.” [Lola701]
“Would it KILL New York designers to try something unique? There’s great potential in this kind of minimalism, but their seeming TERROR at trying anything new is precisely why I’ve always thought this brand was little more than hype.” [GoldenPetals]
See all the looks from the Proenza Schouler Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Christian Siriano

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Burn it all.” [WAVES]
“Everything looks so cheap and unflattering.” [thatsfierce]
“Cheap with really sloppy cuts. Horrible. He survives on personality and should not be offering any advice on Project Runway.” [Bugsy]
See all the looks from the Christian Siriano Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Brandon Maxwell

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Strangely, I kind of like this collection.” [LadyJunon]
“Another firm highlight of NYFW for me. I thought the belt detailing was fabulous, love the silhouette of just about every single look and the sheer fabrics. To me, this feels far more elevated than what else has been on display this week. The opening dress is stunning!” [vogue28]
“It’s certainly beautiful and looks well made.” [GoldenPetals]

MISS | Tibi

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“In a different setting, mood and tone, this could have really worked.” [TaylorBinque]
“The runway location isn’t appealing, makes everything look so minute in presence and also so washed out.” [Cocteau Stone]
“With collections as bland as this I might as well just look at my window and watch the weeds slowly grow in my garden.” [YohjiAddict]
See all the looks from the Tibi Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Khaite

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“This is stunning actually. And YES there is something very Alber Elbaz/Lanvin about it. It’s that cinematic starkness. The fabrics really are the star of the show. Best thing in NYFW! [GoldenPetals]
“Finally a NYFW designer who isn’t afraid to work with and spend on luxe fabric.” [Fulton St Critique]
“I didn’t know Catherine Holstein have it in them to show like this. Quite enjoying it actually. A departure from typical NY shows. The clothes themselves are very Lanvin by Alber. I don’t think it’s a bad thing perse. Definitely love the luxe fabric selection.” [TaylorBinque]
See all the looks from the Khaite Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Rodarte

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Glorified mall clothes. What on earth happened to this label?” [GoldenPetals]
“Sorry girls, but the vacancy for Giambattista Valli is already taken…” [jeanclaude]
“Just because they show this crap during fashion week, does not make it fashion.” [90sFan]
See all the looks from the Rodarte Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Coach

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“This is such an underwhelming collection to celebrate your tenth anniversary at the brand. Everything looks so ill-fitting. I know it’s Coach but still, elevate it.” [THD96]
“Some looks have left me completely traumatized.” [Ruito]
“A giant bore, once upon a time Stuart Vevers actually made some effort to bring some much needed luxury to this tacky brand but by now it’s clear that he’s just happy to wallow in the blandness and dumpiness of this household of the outlet world.” [YohjiAddict]
See all the looks from the Coach Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Ulla Johnson

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Her collections are always so enjoyable to look at.” [LadyJunon]
“I always enjoy Ulla Johnson’s collections. Very chic, feminine and non-fussy, shes like the second coming of Diane von Furstenberg.” [Urban Stylin]
“Such a cute collection, in a really good way! The fabrics are insanely lush, the silhouettes are also pretty gorgeous and seem very comfortable. I still believe this is how Chloé should look like.” [perhydrol]
See all the looks from the Ulla Johnson Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Anna Sui

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Just no. No.” [sanssoleil]
“Yet another messy and redundant Sui collection. Amazed she’s still in the game, who wears her?” [zoom]
“Never been a fan. I feel like she never really evolved into anything more than ‘playful’ and ‘whimsy’ dresses. Developing a signature aesthetic takes more than repetition.” [GoldenPetals]
See all the looks from the Anna Sui Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Carolina Herrera

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“My favorite New York collection!” [liberty33r1b]
“It’s all just so classy, ladylike and glamorous that I cannot help but to instantly drawn to Wes Gordon’s Carolina Herrera collections each and every season. Very much a fan!” [vogue28]
“I can’t bring myself to dislike this because it’s just so professionally made and beautiful.” [GoldenPetals]

MISS | Gabriela Hearst

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“The construction of these garments are screaming for help.” [dancv]
“A strange feat being able to make something look not only so slouchy, but incredibly stiff and boxy at the same time. Props to yah Gabriela.” [Cocteau Stone]
“Thanks God she’s no longer at Chloé.” [Koibito]

HIT | Michael Kors Collection

“Oh it will sell like hot cakes.” [GivenchyAddict]
“Michael Kors is like clockwork. Another perfectly tailored collection with perfect fabric choices and perfect colors. Not a single stitch out of place. This sort of megalithic hyper-refinement. MK may be the greatest to do it since Ralph Lauren.” [Nimsay]
“Michael Kors is just so much of a NYFW staple that I am automatically programmed to adore each and every collection of his. This season is certainly no different, as it’s just all so easy on the eye, 100% wearable and executed to perfection. The colour palette, as always, is fabulous.” [vogue28]

“Pretentious and forgettable, he won’t stay there for long.” [avonlea002]
“It doesn’t look good at all. The yellow and magenta are fighting for dominance and the cuts looked so matronly and sexless. No sophistication or sensuality at all.” [LadyJunon]
“RIP Helmut Lang. Will be seeing this on the discount rack in no time. What a disappointment.” [RMDV]

As quickly as it started, New York Fashion Week is officially over. And over the past few days, designers pulled out all the stops for the Spring 2020 season.

Looking for a quick breakdown? Tom Ford held his show in an abandoned subway station on Bowery Street, Jason Wu returned to the scene, Tory Burch played to her strengths, Wes Gordon proved his worth (once again) at Carolina Herrera, Longchamp needs to stop trying to be Louis Vuitton and Tomo Koizumi cemented his one-trick pony status. Per usual, Marc Jacobs closed out fashion week with a bang by storming the Park Avenue Armory, thrilling onlookers with his vibrant and eclectic collection.

Now that the “week” has finally wrapped, our forum members have something to say. Check out which collections were a hit and which ones missed the mark.
