Since the season of Spring 2019, Michael Kors has called upon Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin as campaign photographers for Michael Kors Collection. Six years later, the relationship remains as strong as ever. Over recent seasons, the Dutch photographic duo have transported us to sun-drenched locations like Capri and Monte Carlo. Last season, I&V ventured to the comfort of their studio, and it’s a repeat performance for Spring 2025. The famed American designer casts Mona Tougaard as the face and embodiment of his ‘Made in Italy’ collection. Throughout the campaign imagery, the Danish model strikes poses amongst a set paying homage to the Italian coastline – with Carlos Nazario on styling duties.

“Inez & Vinoodh deliver as usual,” applauded HigthaVandah.

“Among the best Michael Kors Collection campaigns they have ever shot lately!” fashionlov chimed in.

Also a fan was MModa. “I loved the Fall 2024 Michael Kors Collection campaign for its simplicity, and this season is no exception. These photographs are beautiful. I love the set, the clothes/accessories, and the mood. These images make me dream,” they enthused.

“A vast VAST improvement from last season. The only-girl casting was the right move, and I love the set. It’s all just so polished, with the perfect amount of edge and grit,” voiced vogue28.

“I don’t hate it, I am just surprised they go for went for this muted and quiet vibe,” fashionsavvvy pointed out.

Simera confessed: “I prefer when MK campaigns are out the town, not set in the studio.”

That’s a wrap on the Fall 2025 season of New York Fashion Week. Running from February 6 until February 11, the schedule put out by the Council of Fashion Designers of America proved to be a far more streamlined affair in comparison to seasons past.

At the start of the 6-day event, it was Brandon Maxwell who kick-started this season into high gear (and high style). To commemorate a whole decade in the business, Maxwell dressed his army of models in everyday staples from silk slips and shirting to leather sheaths and plaid skirts. To close out NYFW, Thom Browne dialed up the drama (and then some), with model Alek Wek closing out Browne’s spectacular showcase in a voluminous plaid ball gown.

From the debut collection of Veronica Leoni as Calvin Klein creative director to Wes Gordon proving himself (once again) as the creative force behind Carolina Herrera (and everything else in between) – scroll further for theFashionSpot’s highlights of New York Fashion Week Fall 2025:

The last day of New York Fashion Week gave us the Fall 2025 Michael Kors Collection show. Yesterday, the fashion pack gathered within the vast and minimal Terminal Warehouse. The set came complete with giant Noguchi lamps hanging from the ceiling, reflecting the mood of Kors’ home. To a soundtrack of Tears for Fears, Yazoo, and Depeche Mode, models (including Yasmin Warsame and Liisa Winkler) strode the set sporting a collection oozing a strong sense of laid-back elegance, focused on comfort and movement. The American designer sought inspo from a variety of photographs from the past, including those of Lauren Hutton during the 70s and 90s Sharon Stone.

Michael Kors Fall 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“These clothes are not ugly at all. They are beautifully made from a mainstream perspective. However, I miss the days when Michael Kors had a theme for each season. In the past ten years, it has felt so soulless and empty.” [TomBlanksFullFatMiuMiu]

“I greatly miss the days of themed collections. Now, it’s all just a parade of lifeless clothes, worn by girls without much attitude.” [IsabelMarantBoy]

“I think there is a theme for this collection: department store.” [jeanclaude]

“I actually like the clothes. They’re made for everyday use and they’re stylish, especially during winter time. Not a fan of the oversized dresses. They aren’t very flattering on a woman’s figure. I also like the cloudy colors, they’re perfect for the aesthetic of winter.” [svpernova]

“You could never make me truly despise a Michael Kors Collection show but this does feel kinda lukewarm, compared to collections past. The presentation itself was immaculate, the casting was superb, the clothes looked desirable, styling is on-point but it just does NOT rock my world.” [vogue28]

“I really enjoyed this collection. It feel more elevated than past offerings. As per usual, the casting is stellar. However, they all looked sick, with under-eye bags and horrible hair and expressions.” [Ihhbl]

When enlisting cover stars for Vogue Australia, Christine Centenera stays loyal to local talent. Throughout 2024, the likes of Nicole Kidman, Angelina Kendall, and Adut Akech have covered the Aussie fashion bible. Centenera, who became editor-in-chief last year, opts to close out 2024 by enlisting Miranda Kerr as a Vogue Australia cover star for December. Marking the Aussie model’s fifth Australian Vogue cover appearance, Kerr poses for photographer Dan Martensen. Thirteen years after her very first and two years after her last, Miranda is back on her native Vogue. In the cover photograph, Kerr hazes gown Martensen’s lens and styled by Clare Richardson in Michael Kors Collection and Eres.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Horrible font, so cheap,” immediately called out TuttiFruti.

“I don’t hate the photo on the cover but that font is just atrocious,” Ivancica chimed in.

In complete agreement was svpernova. “Terrible font,” they echoed. “It’s an OK-ish cover but Miranda’s ability to pose leaves a lot to desired. It looks like an Instagram picture an influencer posts on social media!”

“Boring. Seriously, this is very boring,” disapproved Minerva13.

“Never minded the sight of Miranda Kerr but this is certainly not her finest Vogue cover moment. Nothing will ever beat July 2014 by Nicole Bentley. This feels very… gloomy. She looks miserable and resembles a child who has just had a telling off. Such a missed opportunity!” voiced vogue28.

Thanks to the fashion frenzy that is New York Fashion Week, America’s most populous city has been an absolute hub of activity over recent days (perhaps more so than ever before). Getting the New York Fashion Week Spring 2025 season off to an almighty start was design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, with the design duo opting to show off schedule. The following day, the titan of American fashion that is Ralph Lauren also opted to forgo the CFDA’s New York Fashion Week schedule, welcoming guests onto a 19-acre equestrian estate in Bridgehampton for a collection celebrating all-things Americana.

Report: New York Fashion Week Spring 2025

As part of the CFDA’s official New York Fashion Week calendar, Piotrek Panszczyk of the buzzy brand Area kick-started day one, and dug into the archives to celebrate a decade in the business. Brandon Maxwell’s showcase exuded easy elegance. Hilary Taymour at Collina Strada chose to host this season’s show at golden hour within a small private park in Manhattan, sending the lightest of dresses and a bevy of ruffles down a grass runway.

Prabal Gurung staged his spring show under the archway on Centre St in downtown Manhattan, with a fleet of models taking to the cobbles as flowy, fringey, and form-fitting gowns blew in the wind. To a soundtrack of Guns N’ Roses and Wilco, designer Catherine Holstein of Khaite unveiled a collection in a palette of black, white, red, and pale pink. To round out a spectacular Saturday, Alaïa‘s Pieter Mulier invited guests inside the Guggenheim Museum, having ditched Paris for New York this season. Come Sunday, Ulla Johnson woke up the fashion pack with a collection of vivid pattern and bold color. Ib Kamara brought his latest Off-White offering to New York, for a blowout show under the Brooklyn Bridge to display his elevated interpretation of athletic wear.

Monday was kick-started by Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera, who found inspiration in the Herrera fragrance packing from the 1980s. Gordon unveiled an elegant collection characterized by bold polka-dot prints, bright tones, and floral motifs. Make no mistake Coach’s Stuart Vevers hearts New York. The British designer’s cast of models took to The High Line overlooking the Hudson River, sporting playful oversized clutches, leather blazers, and easy-breezy boxers shorts. Tory Burch served up plenty of nostalgia: as the designer revived her famous Reva ballet flats, the shoe that shot her brand to fame in the mid-2000s. Michael Kors hosted his spring show at The Shed in Hudson Yards, for collection tailor-made for both the boardroom and the beach – from pleated midi skirts and oversized suit jackets, to bandeau tops and fringed leather bags.

Here’s the Hits & Misses of New York Fashion Week Spring 2025:

“I don’t know why Stuart Vevers was running and smiling. This collection was a national embarrassment.” [disco54]

“Not sure why they needed these clothes. Maybe Coach wanted to show their Gen Z clients how Coach bags look with their everyday clothes, that they wear to Walmart and to campus lectures.” [Urban Stylin]

“Absolutely hideous collection, with not one single redeeming quality. A visual eyesore, and every garment looks… thrifted (in the worst way possible). The inclusion is Ella Emhoff just adds insult to injury…” [vogue28]

HIT | Ralph Lauren

“RL is one of the last living icons of the industry and it’s a privilege to watch him produce runway collections at this point in his career. He has built an empire that practically invented the American aspirational dress code. One day Americans will eulogize him the way that the French do Yves and Christian Dior. The collection was wonderful in the context of what RL is. I love it.” [Deleted Member 164032]

“This kind of collection makes me happy – effortless and unapologetic glamour.” [thiago]

“Perfection, absolutely perfection, and I’m doubtful anything will come remotely close as we head into the official NYFW calendar. A standing ovation for Ralph, from me!” [vogue28]

HIT | Ulla Johnson

“Always enjoy Ulla Johnson’s collections during NYFW, and this is no exception. Johnson’s use of print is always enjoyable, and that pink and green print is divine. Those colors!” [vogue28]

“Always enjoy Johnson’s collections and this is no exception. I like the pop of color prints, reminds me of NY graffiti back in the day. I also like the safari-esque pieces and the dresses with the metallic-like embroidery.” [Urban Stylin]

MISS | Michael Kors Collection

“You know fashion is f*cked when designers are pulling inspiration from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior.” [LadyJunon]

“This has the excitement and character of a toilet flush. It looks so cheaply made. This CANNOT possibly that much better than Zara.” [GoldenPetals]

“That’s what you get when you mix the worst of Maria Grazia with the worst of Prada and sprinkle it with some Matthieu Blazy leather experimentation, to pretend you know what you are doing. Michael Kors clearly does NOT. The worst crime is the abysmal tailoring.” [yslforever]

HIT | Sergio Hudson

“For the first time ever Sergio Hudson has managed to make a modern-looking collection.” [Lola701]

“I always enjoy his shows. Beautiful clothes that are made for a woman that wants to look good, without any tricks or theatrics. You can tell that Hudson grew up around women that dressed well.” [Urban Stylin]

“Always enjoyed Sergio Hudson and this collection is no exception. Massively here for how cohesive and streamlined the show as a whole is, lovely color palette and silhouettes. Every garment looks wearable for his client. Seeing absolutely nothing offensive. A thumbs up from me!” [vogue28]

“Just why? What’s the point of this? It doesn’t make you angry, interested or disgusted. It’s not even funny. You look at this, feel nothing and forget after few seconds. Waste of money and time.” [avonlea002]

“I like it! Fun proportions, pretty textures, some classic looks, good bags.” [Not Plain Jane]

MISS | Off-White

“Ib Kamara is way too influenced by his work with Riccardo Tisci in a very dated way. It’s missing personality.” [reese06]

“I laughed all through this. If you are just going to replicate another brand/designer then at least do it well. Even when Riccardo’s shtick got tired it didn’t look cheap.” [VogueDisciple93]

“Jacquemus? Loewe? A mix of everything? Somehow, I would have never expected someone a little bit more seasoned try to replicate the hazardous cuts and details of Jacquemus. somehow, it looks worse and even more hazardous.” [Lola701]

“Burn it with the eternal fires of hell. This is an abomination.” [Norden]

“Yuck. Decades later and they still want us to believe that this can pass as ‘luxury’ fashion. The ideas are tired and the production is H&M levels of cheap. I don’t care how many TV contests Siriano wins. He is not talented.” [GoldenPetals]

HIT | Brandon Maxwell

“I actually like it. No fuss ready-to-wear, no gimmicks or dramatic stuff. Reminds me of Michael Kors from the 2010s.” [Urban Stylin]

“This is not a bad collection at all. In fact, it’s solid in spite of not being spectacular. I’m really loving some of the silhouettes here, particularly the layering styling tricks that I am surely planning to copy very soon. Very pleasant to look at, overall.” [philophile]

“It’s done well – or at least better than most of what we’ve seen so far – so I can’t really fault it.” [Cocteau Stone]

“She couldn’t afford to book a venue? It looks like a yard sale.” [rowjellies]

“Shows like this is EXACTLY why I cannot take NYFW seriously.” [Salvatore]

“Collina Strada makes a mockery of it all. She thinks she is some kind of counter-culture contrarian when it’s just hopelessly contrived and ugly. The over representation is also a total bore.” [Deleted Member 164032]

HIT | Tory Burch

“A lot of strong looks/pieces and extremely cohesive too. Well done!” [WAVES]

MISS | Jason Wu Collection

“Jason Wu keeps jumping from one aesthetic to another. There is no longer any consistency in his work.” [GivenchyHomme]

“More often than not, I enjoy Jason Wu’s presence during New York Fashion Week but I’m left majorly underwhelmed this season. Everything just looks so ill-fitting and a mass of fabrics. What an absolute eyesore.” [vogue28]

HIT | Monse

“Some really great stuff here. The two maxi dresses and the sequin polo w/ sequin skirt seem like must-haves. Many other nice separates like that navy suit – beautifully cut pants with a nicely shaped jacket.” [Nimsay]

“I love the sequined polo tops and dresses. They have a very Tom Ford vibe to them. I will definitely put them on my wishlist.” [Lola701]

MISS | LaQuan Smith

Michael Kors has been synonymous with jet-set glamour for decades. After all, we’ve been transported to a whole multitude of ultra-fabulous locations with the brand’s advertising campaign imagery. The Spring 2023 season saw models Mica Argañaraz and Mona Tougaard take Monte Carlo. Vittoria Ceretti jetted off the majestic Italian island of Capri last season, but the Michael Kors woman is staying put for Fall 2024. There’s no signs of luscious landscapes this season, as photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin stay inside the comfort of their photographic studio. Models Julia Nobis, Anok Yai and Lina Zhang assemble before the lens of the Dutch creative twosome. The girls pose throughout a series of simplistic campaign imagery, shot against a clean grey backdrop.

“Stunning!” instantly approved helmutnotdead.

“Julia looks stunning,” forum member Ihhbl admired.

“This is probably the best Julia Nobis has looked for a long time,” JohannesL chimed in.

“Wow, Lina Zhang is on fire this campaign season,” pointed out MDNA.

WAVES agreed, echoing: “Lina is killing it this season. She looks fierce here!”

“Love this. The Anok Yai shot is my favorite,” shared ghostwriter10549.

Vogue28 voiced: “Quite surprising to see Michael Kors come out a studio-shot campaign. I’m so used to being whisked away to sun-drenched locations via his advertising campaigns. I’m not complaining, because this campaign is quite strong and appealing – love the simplicity. Never been a one for Julia Nobis but I’m here for the casting. All three girls look incredible!”

You’ve always bared witness to part one of theFashionSpot’s highlights of New York Fashion Spring 2025, and now it’s time to take a deep dive into part two as the six-day fashion event comes to an almighty end – and we set off for London. The second portion of New York Fashion Week has granted us an array of buzz-worthy displays from Coach, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, and Michael Kors Collection (amongst others).

At Coach, designer Stuart Vevers invited guests to The High Line overlooking the Hudson River. Models walked the runway decked out in oversized jackets and blazers, distressed graphic t-shirts, leather mini-skirts. Michael Kors demonstrated talent for casting, with his show filled with familiar faces, including Irina Shayk, Anok Yai, Karen Elson and Carolyn Murphy. The girls paraded Kors’ sophisticated collection of black and white tailoring, and summer-ready dresses that eventually transitioned into an array of navy and ochre florals.

Needless to say, the second half of New York Fashion Week was not to be missed.

Ahead of the Spring 2025 season of New York Fashion Week, we’re flashing it back a whole decade to the Spring 2015 season. Set to be a one for the books, NYFW will run from September 6-11.

During the NYFW Spring 2015 season back in September of 2014, the fashion landscape (as you might expect) was entirely different. The most notable change compared with today was the designers behind each brand at the time. Still the creative force behind her own namesake label was Carolina Herrera, who sought inspiration from flowers as a staring point for her delightful spring offering. The late Oscar de la Renta was still heading up his eponymous fashion empire and Zac Posen was still in business.

Also on the jam-packed schedule for NYFW Spring 2015 was American fashion heavyweights Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren. At Calvin Klein, there was a cool elegance to the navy-centric collection from Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein Collection. Gingham baby-doll dresses were on display at Diane von Furstenberg, enlisting an A-list cast of models (including Lily Donaldson and Naomi Campbell) to model her vibrant lineup inspired by the French Riviera during 1950s.

Over recent months, Anna Wintour has been on a little bit of a mission to welcome back old favorites onto the cover of Vogue. After all, the likes of Jill Biden, Kendall Jenner and Zendaya have each made a return to the American fashion bible’s front covers over recent months, with Blake Lively the latest. That’s right, Wintour invites the actress back for a fourth time, with the unveiling of the all-important September edition for 2024. Wintour insisted on Australian film director (and friend) Baz Luhrmann profiling Lively for her latest Vogue cover shoot, with Hugh Jackman getting in on the action too for a “Hitchcock-inspired fashion fantasia”. Styled by Tonne Goodman, Blake sports a voluminous up-do in the portrait cover shot, clutching a Cartier diamond necklace and dressed in a black dress from the Fall 2024 Michael Kors collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“JESUS… A new LOW!” immediately exclaimed DK92 the second the cover dropped.

“I really don’t get the Blake-Hugh-Baz link up? It’s so random. It almost feels like it was supposed to be Nicole Kidman but she bailed out on the last minute so they had to book someone else,” laughed Marc10.

“I’m sure it’s been one of the biggest thrills of Anna’s life to combine the names Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman and Baz Luhrmann. Outside of these being some of Anna’s favorites, I don’t really understand the combination,” LastNight added.

Thiago asked: “Where is Annie Leibovitz when they need her?”

“This is the type of expansive shoot that Grace Coddington and Annie Leibovitz would’ve done so well,” sighed forum member MagazineAddict89.

Not everyone, however, was left so underwhelmed. “love all the glamour, elegance, and the hair! The cover photographs take me back in time, especially, the pages of American Vogue in the 1960’s. I particularly love the profile shot of Lively the most,” MModa enthused.

You’re no doubt well aware that Anna Wintour often favors figures from the world of sport as American Vogue‘s cover stars. Throughout her tenure, we’ve encountered LeBron James, Ryan Lochte and Hope Solo, Ashton Eaton, Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles and Serena Williams has graced the cover five times. Wintour’s latest endorsement, with the unveiling of Vogue‘s April 2024 cover is Coco Gauff. The American tennis player receives the full Vogue cover treatment, captured by famed photographer and Wintour favorite Annie Leibovitz. In the warm and energetic cover shot, Coco poses against a textured studio backdrop and shimmers in a gold sequinned dress from Michael Kors Collection, selected for the occasion by stylist Tabitha Simmons.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“That’s an unfortunate facial expression,” noted WinstonH20.

Mepps was in complete agreement, commenting: “My only problem with this cover is that unfortunate facial expression. Coco Gauff is very photogenic, but this ain’t it.”

“Oh wow, Coco is so pretty, so surely they could’ve picked a better cover shot,” added thenewclassic.

Vogue28 voiced: “Always down for these old-school American Vogue type covers. I love the gold, the coloring and warmth of Leibovitz’s photography. However, there’s something about the mid-pose from Coco Gauff here that just deflates and downgrades the cover overall.”

“Everything works minus the facial expression,” stated forum member WAVES.

“So bored with athletes on Vogue,” cried out tomtakesphotos.
