Alexander Skarsgard‘s new photos from the Cannes International Film Festival 2025 are proof that he knows how to rock a pair of BDSM-esque boots. On May 18, the Swedish actor stunned fans by making an edgy appearance at the premiere of “The Phoenician Scheme.” While Skarsgard looked dandy in his formal suit, it seems like he completely stole the spotlight with the stunning pair of black thigh-high boots from Saint Laurent.

At the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, Alexander Skarsgard elevated formal dressing with a titillating footwear for the “The Phoenician Scheme” premiere. The actor sported a classic black tuxedo from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. The ensemble featured a double-breasted jacket with padded shoulders and distinct satin lapels. Skarsgard opted for a classic white button-up underneath and sported a simple black tie, adding more sharpness to his Cannes 2025 look.

However, what caught the eyes of fans was the pair of shoes Skarsgard wore. “The Legend of Tarzan” star showed off his thigh-high, BDSM-esque boots from Saint Laurent on the red carpet. The black leather boots were from the fashion house’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 runway collection and complemented the actor’s suit well. The footwear featured a square toe and a buckle detailing at the top. However, Skarsgard is not the first celebrity to nail YSL’s thigh-high boots look this year. In March, Pedro Pascal wore the thigh-high boots from the luxury brand at the premiere of “The Last of Us” Season 2.

What may have initially seemed like a skeptical choice for the suit turned out to be a good pairing, and celebrity stylist Harry Lambert is to be credited for Alexander Skarsgard’s recent look. Lambert also shared on Instagram that the actor was groomed by hair stylist Charley McEwen. 

Skarsgard’s power dressing had several neat elements, but the boots definitely added another level of audacious edge to the ensemble. On a different note, he appeared to be in great spirits in his tailored look as he posed for the cameras on the Cannes 2025 red carpet.
