Aside from Katy Perry’s wardrobe (more on that later), this year’s MTV Video Music Awards was pretty tame. Taylor Swift was a no-show, but the premiere of her video for “Look What You Made Me Do” left a lasting impression with the new Taylor dissing and dismissing incarnations of her former self. From Paris Jackson denouncing Nazis to Heather Heyer’s mother making an appearance to Pink’s moving acceptance speech centering around telling her daughter that there are all kinds of beautiful girls in the world, the night was jam-packed with emotional and uplifting moments. Serving as host, Katy provided moments of levity, especially when she pretended to have just returned from a prolonged stay in outer space (spacesuit and all) and referred to that iconic costume from The Handmaid’s Tale as Balenciaga for 2017.

When it came to fashion, no surprise that showing skin via sheer sections was trending. Bling was also in as a lot of stars dazzled in embellishments and metallics. Feathers, ruffles and pleats also proved popular. In case you missed the show, here are the most memorable looks of the night.

The People’s Choice Awards rang in the 2016 season last night in Los Angeles and although the red carpet had its fair share of stars, quite a few big names opted out of the award show opening ritual. This year’s American Music Awards was all about the performances. Sure, there were awards handed out, but the real draw centered around the onstage acts. Host Jennifer Lopez opened the show by belting out her classic “Waiting for Tonight” and then put on an epic dance number to some of 2015’s top tracks. There was a mini Clueless reunion as former co-stars Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto introduced Gwen Stefani’s performance. Harrison Ford rallied the audience before the Star Wars spectacular performed by Pentatonix and Celine Dion blew the crowd away with her touching tribute to Paris. When it came to fashion, celebs decided to flash a decent amount of skin. Even though quite a few stars skipped the red carpet, there were plenty of eye-catching moments, from Gwen’s over-the-top black sheer gown to Carrie Underwood’s flowing cape and Demi Lovato’s retro statement. Another Halloween has come and gone, so now all we’re left with are the haunting memories of celebrity costumes. As per usual, Heidi Klum went to extremes to stand out at her annual holiday gathering. We were just disappointed that she didn’t enlist anyone to go as Roger Rabbit to coordinate with her Jessica Rabbit costume. Cats, Karl Lagerfeld with Choupette in tow and Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad all proved popular, while a few stars got more creative and took their getups to whole new levels of creepy. Eclectic is the best way to describe the front rows at this season’s New York Fashion Week shows. We spotted everyone from actors and actresses to musicians along with social media mavens rubbing shoulders (sometimes literally since those seats can be pretty tight). There was even a pampered pooch who scored a prime spot. Part of the fun of Fashion Week is seeing who gets seated together at these presentations and we were in for a treat as Nicki Minaj posed next to Debbie Harry at Givenchy, Olivia Wilde buddied up to Naomi Watts at Michael Kors, while Alexa Chung plus Solange Knowles equaled a striking sartorial pair at 3.1 Phillip Lim.
