The Cruise 2026 season is in full swing. Chanel transported us to Lake Como, while Gucci ventured deep into the archives (literally). Louis Vuitton traveled to Avignon ( a city in southeastern France’s Provence region) for its Cruise 2026 showcase. Nicolas Ghesquière, who has served as creative director since 2013, welcomed guests inside the historic Palais des Papes. The front row inside the medieval landmark was stacked with the likes of Sophie Turner, Cate Blanchett, Catherine Deneuve, and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron. Models took to the runway adorned in an assortment of opulent, sharp, and armor-like designs. Metallics, fur, and lavish embellishments reigned supreme. “Women’s armor for everyday life,” Ghesquière told WWD backstage.

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2026 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Nicolas Ghesquière’s in a league of his own. Beyond!” [Kanzai]

“FATHER IS FATHERING!” [helmutnotdead]

“I feel challenged, I feel intrigued, I feel questioned and then, two seconds later, it’s pure love. Seriously, Nicolas has been on a roll since his 10-year show.” [yslforever]

“Love it. I think it’s quite a sumptuous, rich and layered collection. That excess of jacquard, lurex, shine, shine shine! I really love the oversized jacquard t-shirt dresses, that insane gold blazer, the A-line knitted dresses. The shoes and bags are also fabulous.” [Lola701]

“FANTASTIC collection and show! When Ghesquière is on he’s marvelous, and he was ON for this collection!” [VogueDisciple93]

“That was GREAT! The bags were gorgeous and will sell very well. The set and music were spectacular as well. One of the few Louis Vuitton collections from NG that I can say I love.” [Salvatore]

“Lovely show. The shapes are very familiar, like a compilation really. Revisiting his history at a historic place, cool. But the real charm here is all the textiles, patterns, prints, the colors, the embellishment. This is what is missing from fashion – something evocative, doing that bridge past and present. Thank God for Nicolas!” [Alquimista]

Day eight (of nine) of Paris Fashion Week Fall 2025 and Nicolas Ghesquière just rounded out the fashion festivities with the Louis Vuitton Fall 2025 collection. Ghesquière has been the creative force behind the iconic French fashion house since 2013, and renewed his contract with LVMH in 2023 (for an unspecified amount of time). This season, the French-Belgian designer once again tapped into the traveling spirit of Louis Vuitton. Stage within inspired by a Parisian train station, guests (including brand ambassadors Lisa and Léa Seydoux) sat front row as models paraded the set sporting Ghesquière’s mashup of maximalist ruffles, big volumes, wide shoulders, buttery leathers, chunky knitwear, and faux fur. Elsewhere throughout the collection were sneakers, technical outerwear, and breezy gowns cementing the notion more is more.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I think this is his most confident collection yet. No styling tricks, and you can see the clothes for a change. So many good outerwear.” [tourbillions]

“Maybe my favorite set and in terms of presentation, probably one of his best show at Vuitton. And the non-finale finale was fabulous. Great energy. I like the collection a lot. I have a bias, as Nicolas is the last one standing of my favorite designers in activity.” [Lola701]

“I think it is a good collection. Personally, I found the beginning more exciting and then I started losing interest, in part because of some dejà vus, in part because I was a little bored by the color palette. Still solid, not overdesigned, with impressive set.” [Monsieur Cristobal]

“Usual NG. Some of this is exquisite and some is equally repulsive.” [dancv]

“Is it just me or this collection feels like a retrospective? I see elements from his first show, the one at the Louvre’s basement, the Palm Spring show, the Centre Pompidou one, the spaceship collection at Cour Lefuel, etc. Overall, it’s a good Nicola’s collection. It’s quite romantic and modern.” [KilltheLook]

“Definitely a retrospective as I’ve spotted many silhouettes done in the past. It was for me an overwhelming mash-up of all the codes he created at the helm of LV. It was too much to appreciate most of the looks and it is one of my least favorite collections from him. Some looks were just straight ugly and nothing to save about. Besides that, he delivered the usual top-tier casting, set design and music.” [GivenchyAddict]

Since joining the ranks at Louis Vuitton in 2013, Nicolas Ghesquière has called upon a whole multitude of talent when enlisting photographers for the brand’s advertising campaigns. From David Sims to Jamie Hawkesworth, we’ve seen just about every major photographer from the world of fashion come forward to lens a Louis Vuitton campaign over recent years. Make no mistake Steven Meisel is a firm fave of Ghesquière, who is welcomed back with open arms for Spring 2025. The revered French-Belgian designer calls upon Saoirse Ronan and Lisa (of Blackpink) for this season’s Louis Vuitton campaign. The LV brand ambassadors pose against backdrops showcasing the work of French painter Laurent Grasso (whose work also featured in designs of the collection unveiled during Paris Fashion Week back in September).

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Why is everyone pushing for Steven Meisel this season? Great name, but mediocre pictures,” dispelled ah ah upon checking out the campaign.

“Meisel started this year TERRIBLY,” fashionsavvvvvy chimed in.

“The background is beautiful. Shame about the clothes,” commented Kite.

DK92 noted: “I like the background. Apart from that everything is terrible. The clothes, celebrities with that terrible facial expression, that hair!”

“What a waste of a beautiful collection. Looks so generic,” cried out prylvi.

Creative wasn’t best impressed either. “I don’t know who they are and couldn’t care less to be honest. The campaign is terrible. I get Meisel wants every dollar in his bank account, but dear lord, he should at least care a little. Vuitton campaigns are always a disaster, so no surprise here,” they voiced.

As creative director of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière has trusted just a very select few to capture his vision for the famed French fashion house. Names like David Sims, Steven Meisel, Ethan James Green, and Bruce Weber have been called upon since Ghesquière took over Vuitton in 2014. For the Cruise 2024 campaign offering last year, Ghesquière entrusted Jamie Hawkesworth. Fast forward twelve months and it’s a repeat performance with the unveiling of the Cruise 2025 campaign installment. In May, the French-Belgian designer staged the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 presentation within the majestic Park Güell in Barcelona. In a nod to the show, models Mona Tougaard, Larissa Moraes and Cara Schadel take the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region for the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 campaign. The Ghesquière-approved beauties pose underneath clear blue skies and amongst some of the city’s finest architecture throughout the stunning sun-lit campaign imagery.

“Very beautiful and great composition. Maybe Jamie Hawkesworth should shoot all the campaigns instead of David Sims,” shared Lola701 upon checking out the campaign.

GivenchyAddict shared the same level of enthusiasm. “One of my fav LV campaigns. Just gorgeous! Un sans faute,” they commented.

“Love it! Mona Tougaard is believable in the location even if the clothes aren’t the most stunning,” chimed in forum member Deleted Member 1957.

“Always happy to see Mona in any campaign,” couturefan praised.

“Mona Tougaard was all that was needed here. She’s stealing the show entirely from the other two girls. Such gorgeous campaign imagery from Jamie Hawkesworth. The coloring, lighting, and sense of warmth is beautiful. The setting also…” voiced vogue28.

Earlier this year in May, Nicolas Ghesquière transported the fashion pack to Barcelona (the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region) to present his Cruise 2025 collection. Ghesquière opted to showcase his latest within Barcelona’s majestic Park Güell. Shown within the captivating Hypostyle Room (designed by Antoni Gaudi), the architectural masterpiece provided the perfect backdrop for Ghesquière’s futuristic spin on resort wear, with sleek tailoring and voluminous proportions setting the tone for the 80s-inspired lineup. Infused with bold Spanish influences, the collection was rounded off with accessories of sculptural earrings, brooches, and wide-brimmed Andalusian hats.

This afternoon in Paris, Nicolas Ghesquière of Louis Vuitton closed out the official Paris Fashion Week schedule in spectacular style. The French-Belgian fashion designer who signed on the dotted line as creative director in 2013 and renewed his contract last year, presented his Louis Vuitton Spring 2025 collection at the iconic Cour Carrèe du Louvre. Guests (including everyone from Zendaya to Ana de Armas) were ushered inside a giant reflective tent, and greeted by a vast trunk-inspired runway, honoring the rich heritage of Vuitton. Ghesquière’s lineup was ultimately inspired by the idea of contrast. Outfits featured patterns by artist Laurent Grasso while a soundtrack taken from Jamie XX’s new album blasted through the speakers.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“His tweed is superior to Chanel. The collection to me is very much inspired by Karl: this necklaces, bag in the shape of fan, tweed, color combination. Very Spring 2011 Chanel.” [Olaffo]

“So it wasn’t just me seeing Chanel all over it. I absolutely love it! Give him Chanel! I don’t care, wertheimers, you’re filthy rich. Take this man off of LVMH. The runway was everything too.” [Alquimista]

“Such a chic collection – bravo to Nicolas. And I think he knew it this time, that’s why the runway presentation was focused on the models and not the audience.” [Overindulgence]

I’m still processing it but I have the feeling that I SAW FASHION. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but it’s fashion. Finally someone ambitious showing how it’s done.” [helmutnotdead]

“Go off and show off, Nicolas! Let the girls know you can challenge taste without it being ugly. It looked expensive, it didn’t look tortured. Bravo!” [reese06]

“I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT. The soundtrack, the trunks as a runway. I loved the footwear, the bags, and the accessories. Ghesquiere is hitting his stride, I am so excited. I loved this collection, and I usually feel a way about what he’s been doing but I love, love, loved all of it.” [jeremydante]

“Great and surprising collection from Nicolas! Despite the layering in the styling, the amount of flow made it so enjoyable. Seeing those fabrics floating as the girls walked was fabulous!” [Lola701]

“Beautiful propositions and really beautiful execution.” [j02215]

Make no mistake Nicolas Ghesquière remains loyal when it comes to enlisting photographers to capture his mainline Louis Vuitton advertising campaigns. The French designer remains faithful to David Sims with the unveiling of the Fall 2024 advertising campaign offering, marking the British fashion photographer’s seventh consecutive campaign since the Fall 2021 season. After last season’s multi-girl offering, Rianne van Rompaey is cast solo, with Ghesquière also having selected the Dutch beauty to close his Fall 2024 10-year anniversary showcase during Paris Fashion Week back in March. The long-time muse of Ghesquière takes to Sims’ photographic studio throughout the campaign, posing amongst an array of vintage Louis Vuitton trunks and a chandelier designed by renowned artist Philippe Parreno – with Marie-Amelie Sauvé on styling duties.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Just happy for Rianne van Rompaey to be part of the 10-year anniversary of NG’s tenure. She is without a doubt one of the most significant new faces to ever debut on the catwalks in the 21st century,” raved GERGIN.

“I love it! I love how they have combined the heritage of Vuitton, the new collection and the set from the show. Rianne is always a good choice,” Lola701 enthused.

In complete agreement was Kite, commenting: “Finally a bit of FASHION in a campaign. This is so recognizable as Ghesquière, so it works really well!”

“Simple yet effective,” commended GivenchyHomme.

“Massively into this, and how simplistic is it for a Louis Vuitton campaign from David Sims. I love the addition of the Louis Vuitton trunks, the simple studio setting and of course – Rianne van Rompaey! What a beauty. She is exquisite, always looks so heavenly and expensive,” voiced vogue28.
